‘I’ve been keeping a secret from you guys’
YouTube star PewDiePie has announced that he is set to become a dad, sparking an outpouring of joy from his followers.
Felix Arvid Ulf Kjellberg, better known as PewDiePie, revealed that he and his wife, Marzia, are expecting a baby in a 1.30 second video on Sunday morning, and within an hour more than 43,0000 fans had commented on it and 350,000 had liked it.
The video, titled: ‘We’re having a baby!’, begins with the 33-year-old telling his 111m subscribers that, “I’ve been keeping a secret from you guys. And, that is, I’m going to be a dad.”
The video then spans to footage of five different positive pregnancy tests as he continues: “We found out that Marzia is pregnant in November and I’m just so thankful everything has been going well, so far.”
In one clip, recorded whilst waiting for Marzia at the clinic, he says that his partner has been “dealing with sickness” but has been “taking it like an absolute champ.”
PewDiePie said the news was “kinda strange” but that he was “so excited” to enter “new territory”.
“I feel really ready and so does Marzia,” he said. adding that he felt “so lucky” to be starting a family with the “woman I love”.
PewDiePie added: “I know that whatever is ahead of us, together we can do it.”
Fans of the couple were quick to extend their congratulations.
One wrote on YouTube: “Damn, I really watched this man grow up from screaming in a dark room, to the legacy he built on YouTube, and now having a child. Congratulations to you three!”
