Man who spent £12,500 to become a dog has now bought himself a huge cage

Getting in the crate wasn’t easy

A man who spent £12,500 on a costume to turn himself into a realistic-looking dog, has now experienced one of the less appealing aspects of being a pet – being put in a cage.

The Youtuber, known only as Toco, started making headlines for his barking-mad antics last year, and has since been posting video updates showing him effectively living life as a rough collie.

In an introductory video he explains: “I became a rough collie because I wanted to be an animal. From now on I’m thinking of uploading videos at my own pace.”

In his latest video on his ‘I Want To Be An Animal’ channel, Toco, gets locked in a dog crate.

Like most dogs, Toco doesn’t go into the cage that easily, but probably for different reasons. It can’t be easy manoeuvring in a dog costume on all fours.

Eventually, Toco backs himself in, but he barely fits. His nose, well, snout, is right up against the door which a person is then seen locking.

Toco clearly isn’t that into it, as he starts pawing at the door, before the lights in the room are eventfully turned off so that he can go to sleep.

But he doesn’t, because he just starts barking until the person filming turns the light back on, returns and unlocks the cage to let him out.

The video also shows him getting a belly rub, chasing after a dog toy and then walking around with it in his mouth. And being put in a harness and walked about.

Almost 10,000 people have viewed the video in just under two weeks.

One person commented: “Love this so much. I find myself thinking he looks uncomfortable in that position. Does he enjoy being a pup so much that it overrides the discomfort. I hope the people he love’s respect his need to do this.”

And wrote: “I got sad when you were put in the crate, but then I saw you got tummy rubs and a walk so everything is okay!! Love you Toco! Keep living your dreams!”

According to an interview with Japanese outlet Mynavi the man hired Zeppet, a company that specialises in creating incredibly detailed costumes, sculptures and models for movies and commercials, to make his dog dream a reality.

“I made it a collie because it looks real when I put it on,” Toko explained to Mynavi, revealing that the costume took around 40 days to create and multiple revisions to get just right.

“My favourite is quadrupedal animals, especially cute ones. Among them, I thought that a big animal close to me would be good, considering that it would be a realistic model, so I decided to make it a dog.

“I met such a condition and made collie, my favorite breed of dog.”

Clearly proud of their work, Zeppet shared pictures of their prized pooch costume on their own Twitter feeds, before shedding some light on the creation of this highly detailed bit of dog clobber.

“The point is that the skeleton of a dog can be reproduced on the skeleton of a human. Since the structure of the skeleton is very different, we spent a lot of time studying how to make it look like a dog,” revealed a Zeppet employee.

“In addition, we collect photographs taken from various angles so that the beautiful coat of the collie can be reproduced and devised so that the coat will flow naturally.”
