An expert on the future has predicted that humans may be able to achieve immortality within the next decade.
Ray Kurzweil, an alleged expert on the future, has predicted some pretty remarkable things over the years and this could be his next big winner.
For example, Kurzweil back in 1990 that a computer would be able to beat the world’s best chess player by the year 2000. That came true.
He also said that mobile phones would become the future of the world. Fair to say that one was definitely right!
Kurzweil has also made some pretty astonishing predictions when it comes to artificial intelligence and human immortality. He thinks that AI will be able to beat the Turing Test, which shows whether machines can exhibit intelligent ‘human-like’ behaviour, before 2030.
His latest prediction however centres around the idea of immortality - that someone can live forever - and he believes it could happen within the next eight years.
Speaking to futurism, he said: "2029 is the consistent date I have predicted for when an AI will pass a valid Turing test and therefore achieve human levels of intelligence.
"I have set the date 2045 for the 'Singularity', which is when we will multiply our effective intelligence a billion-fold by merging with the intelligence we have created."
But how is it possible?
Kurzweil believes that nanobots roaming through our blood vessels would be able to check how our bodies are getting on, as well as being able to upload thoughts and memories to the cloud.
