This is when the next Nintendo Direct is taking place

The next Nintendo Direct event is happening in early April - and this is everything you need to know.

The upcoming live stream event on Wednesday, 2 April will finally reveal more information about the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2 console.

Alongside the event fans will also be hoping that pre-orders will open at the same time.

This is following a number of rumours and leaks about the 'official' pre-order date as well as prices.

Recently Best Buy Canada published - and quickly deleted - a blog post claiming that pre-orders for the Nintendo Switch 2 would open on 2 April, the same day as the Nintendo Direct event.

The upcoming live event follows up the one that took place last week (27 March) and saw Nintendo reveal a host of new gaming releases.

This included Pokémon Legends Z-A, which is coming in late 2025 as well as Marvel Cosmic Invasion and Tomodachi Life Living the Dream.

When is the next Nintendo Direct?

The Nintendo Direct event will take place on Wednesday, 2 April.

Fans in the UK can tune in at 2pm BST via the official Nintendo YouTube channel to watch the live stream.

It's been confirmed that more details will be revealed about the much-anticipated Nintendo Switch 2.

Nintendo have said that "information" about the console will be announced, but they're keeping it tightly under wraps, with fans hoping for pre-order and pricing details.

When can I pre-order the Nintendo Switch 2?

The console is not yet available to officially pre-order, but some retailers have launched Nintendo Switch 2 pages.

This includes UK retailer Currys, which has created a page for Nintendo Switch 2 pre-orders in the UK. You can see the page here.

There is not a lot on the page but it does have a box to fill in your details. Currys says it will then email you information when pre orders are open.

Currys says: “All we know is that it’ll be out at some point this year. Nintendo hasn’t completely left us hanging though. That’s because they’ve said that their next Nintendo Direct presentation will air on 2 April 2025 (2pm UK time) and offer a closer look at Nintendo Switch 2. So, we hope they’ll reveal the launch date in that video too.”

Gamers can also register their interest in pre orders on the Shopto website and pay just 1p to secure their spot. However, there is a catch as Shopto also says pre orders are not guaranteed once the console is released.
