Everything we know about the Nintendo Switch 2 price

The Nintendo Switch 2 price might not be as expensive as we think following a number of leaks.

The much-anticipated console was finally revealed, which features a sleek design with black controllers and splashes of colour instead of the all red and blue on the original.

Alongside the console announcement they confirmed a key date – 2 April – which will see the airing of Nintendo Direct.

“Nintendo Direct: Nintendo Switch 2 will air on Wednesday, April 2, 2025, offering a closer look at Nintendo Switch 2, the successor to Nintendo Switch releasing in 2025,” Nintendo said on its website.

What's the Nintendo Switch 2 price?

Nintendo has kept details about the official console price tightly-wrapped, but Nintendo’s president Shuntaro Furukawa has given us some positive hints.

In early February, Nintendo announced its third-quarter financial results, and, in a Q&A afterwards, Furukawa said “the affordability that our customers expect from Nintendo products” is being considered.

It's likely that the Nintendo Switch 2 will cost slightly higher than the Nintendo Switch OLED, which is currently priced at £309.99 RRP or £268.99 on Amazon.

While analysts who spoke to IGN predict a price of around $400 (£330), which is $50 more than the OLED in the US.

In early February, an Italian retailer listed the Nintendo Switch 2 on its website, letting customers pre-order the console before it had been fully unveiled. The system is priced at €389.99 (£325), making it only £15 more expensive than the Nintendo Switch OLED.

A second leak happened last weekend after a Costco Canada employee showed what was supposedly a placeholder listing for a new Switch model on a forum.

This was on a post for registered members on Famiboards, with the price at $499.99 CAD, that's a $50 CAD (£30) increase over the Switch OLED.

What is the release date and can I pre-order?

The exact release date is yet to be announced by Nintendo, but we do have some key dates to keep an eye on.

The company has confirmed that it will be arriving in 2025 and more details will be revealed at the Nintendo Direct event on Wednesday, 2 April at 2pm GMT.

While some pre-order options are available, despite no official release date.

Gamers can register their interest in pre orders on the Shopto website and pay just 1p to secure their spot. However, there is a catch as Shopto also says pre orders are not guaranteed once the console is released.

Can I still get the original Nintendo Switch?

If you’re not too bothered about the latest model and are hoping that the prices of the original Nintendo Switch and the OLED model are going to drop following the new release then that’s also a possibility.

Currently the Nintendo Switch is priced at £250, which is about £33 cheaper than its launch price, while the OLED is £268, which is just under £40 cheaper than its launch price.

They’ll both be ones to watch following the release of the Nintendo Switch 2 as you might be able to get some deals, including bundles featuring a game.
