The game developers have confirmed that alongside a promised physical release for the sequel, Alien Isolation 2's Xenomorph can now detect real-world breathing picked up through a player's microphone.
A new stealth mechanic for Alien Isolation 2 is now in place, Creative Assembly has confirmed.
How the xenomorph will pick up on a player's real breathing is through their console or PC microphone.
As NME reported, the developer shared the news in a long Q&A video.
The horror sequel will get a physical release, it also confirmed.
According to the team, one of its guiding principles for the sequel remaisn staying true to "the analogue nature of Alien".
The sequel, Alien Isolation 2, takes place 15 years after the first Alien film.
It follows Ripley's daughter as she searches for her missing mother.
According to creative director Al Hope, the sequel keeps the claustrophobic corridors fans will recognise. If you know, you know.
At the same time, it adds new outdoor areas where the Xenomorph learns to hunt.
Hope said: "We also have exteriors as well where the creature is now learning to adapt and hunt in these open spaces."
It matters for gamers as the reveal lands at a telling moment for UK console gaming.
This year, Sony, Microsoft and Nintendo's stance on tariff refunds has kept hardware prices in the headlines.
For British collectors, what this means is that a physical release gives them certainty before Creative Assembly even confirms when the game is coming out.
No release date has been confirmed yet.
Creative Assembly says more details are coming soon.
