Chelsea have reportedly made an offer for Aston Villa’s Jack Grealish

Grealish could be on the move to London

Jack Grealish could be on his way out of Villa Park this summer

Aston Villa’s recent financial restraints are no secret and as a result the Birmingham club’s bargaining power has been diminished.

Grealish played a key role in the Villans’ march to the play-off final last season, but may be forced to leave his boyhood club after they missed out on promotion with their 1-0 defeat to Fulham.

Only last week the attacking midfielder was linked with a move to Tottenham, with Daniel Levy reportedly eyeing a move for the 22-year-old at a knock-down price. Manchester United are also said to have been sniffing around.

The latest side to be credited with an interest in Grealish are Chelsea, who are said to have made an offer for him. Although Villa are said to want £40m, TeamTalk.com claim the London club are only willing to go as high as £30m. Crucially though, their offer will see Grealish loaned back to Villa for the 2018/19 season – a factor which may be tempting for the Championship side.

It has been a policy of Chelsea’s over the last few years to buy players young and then loan them out with the initial plan clearly to blood them in after they’ve picked up a few more years of experience.

Regularly, however, these players become forgotten figures as time moves on a la Marko Van Ginkel, Lucas Piazon and Nathaniel Chalobah.

However, it would still represent a positive move for Grealish and undoubtedly for Villa, who’d get to hold on to their star man while footing some of the debt that they face.
