An absolute worldie

Andros Townsend scored the goal of the season so far on Saturday. The 40-yard volley put Crystal Palace ahead of Manchester City at the Etihad stadium.

City had gone 1-0 ahead of Palace through Ilkay Gündogan but the Eagles clawed back to 2-1 with goals from Jeffrey Schlupp and Andros Townsend.

In the 35th minute, poor defensive work from Manchester City left a scrappy ball looping out to around 40 yards from the goal.

Andros Townsend, who knows how to bang in a long-ranger, ran onto and through it, the ball rebounding in a spin-less swerve toward the top corner. Lightning power made the effort impossible to save.

Manchester City have lost just three of their last 63 premier league games, not yet to drop points at home in the 18/19 season.

A penalty from Luka Milivojevic put Crystal Palace 3-1 up but Kevin de Bruyne answered with a cross that drifted in off the far post for 3-2.

City had lost just once, now twice, in the league this season (to Chelsea) and currently sit four points behind league leaders Liverpool following the Reds 2-0 win over Wolves on Friday night.
