McDonald’s has announced it will launch its first reservation-only luxury restaurant for one day only in Kensington on 15 August that will see customers welcomed to their table by a string quartet and dine with diamond-encrusted cutlery within rich velvet curtains. Not actual diamonds, obviously. People would be nicking forks. But still, they will be shiny and look appropriately elegant as you ignore them and stuff one of the top of the range burgers in your face with two hands. Online reservations will open today, but places are limited with a two-day window so act fast if you want to invite your next Tinder date out for a Maccies. Just picture it, you'll be given a choice of the Classic, BBQ or Spicy Signature Burger all served to you under a silver cloche by white-gloved butlers.
