Meet the new ‘Portugese concept’ tipped to be the next Nando’s

Jack Peat

Casa do Frango has stepped into the piri-piri chicken game and made it ten times better

Acclaimed piri-piri chicken chain Casa do Frango is set to double the number of outlets it runs in the next few months.

The Algarvian restauranteurs have enjoyed tremendous success at their first two outlets in London Bridge and Shoreditch, and now plan to expand to Heddon Street and Victoria.

The menu will continue to revolve around its winning formula of piri-piri chicken and chips, with an array of simple side dishes like Portuguese salads; grilled vegetables; salt cod fritters; and Iberico pork croquetas.

Diners can also tackle an array of cocktails from the region, such as port & tonic and the Casa Negroni.

Hype among chicken lovers has led to the restaurant being dubbed a “posh Nando’s” by reviewers, with many tipping it to be the next big thing.

Writing in the Observer, Jay Rayner described Casa do Frango – which litterally translates to ‘chicken house’ – as “delightful”, while The London Economic’s Jon Hatchman eschewed comparisons with its high street rival, saying the food is “considerably better, more authentic and only marginally more expensive”.
