KFC is giving away its new and allegedly improved fries for free on Black Friday

KFC is hoping to shift its reputation for having rubbish chips by bringing in a new recipe

The fast food outlet announced a couple of weeks ago that it would be ditching its limp, soggy fries in favour of a new and improved recipe. You may recall that KFC had been promoting a series of tweets that slagged off its chips, followed by an announcement that the much maligned potato product would be sacked off, with "a thicker, chunkier and tastier spud." Now the chicken-slingers have announced that on Black Friday - this very Friday 23 November, in fact - it will be giving away its brand new chips for punters to try.

"KFC’s new fries are thicker and wider (all the better for dipping with) and the whole spud is used, with the skin left on for a natural appearance and amazing taste," the brand said in a press release.

"The added chunkiness also means they keep their heat for longer, so they’re delicious even on the go.

So how do you get these free chips?

"To get the free fries on Black Friday, all you need to do is download KFC’s app (if you haven’t already!) and access the offer, which can be redeemed in your local participating restaurant. It’s one free portion per person."
