Is it a bagel? Is it a pizza? No, it’s the ‘Bagelizza’

National Bagel Day or National Pizza Day both fall on February 9 – how do you celebrate both? New York Bakery Co. has solved this problem for you.

Londoners now have the chance to get the UK’s first ever ‘Bagelizza’ for free this Saturday. Inspired by the taste of New York, it is a mash-up of bagel and pizza.

Rhiannon Heap, Brand Manager at New York Bakery Co. said: “This year we decided to embrace the fact that two food icons of New York share the same national day.

“The ‘Bagelizza’ has the same authentic chew of our boil-and-bake bagels and is loaded with the very best New York flavours, it’s the perfect way to celebrate National Bagel Day and National Pizza Day.”

The 12-inch bake weighs in 1.5kg, which is more than 16 times heavier than the average bagel.

Topped up with shavings of swiss cheese and lashings of 21-day-aged grass-fed brisket, it finishes with a drizzle of Russian dressing – all sit on top of the restaurant’s signature marinara sauce and 300g of mozzarella.

The company was founded by a New Yorker Broney Gadman, who wanted to share his love of authentic American bagels. He originally started his business in the 1990s in Rotherham.

The limited-edition ‘Bagelizza’ is available to order from Mulberry Street Pizzeria both in-store or on Deliveroo from midday.

Seb Eshraghi, the owner of Mulberry Street Pizzeria, said: “We’re excited to work with the bagel experts at New York Bakery Co. We share a mutual passion for the culinary culture of the Big Apple and hope to ignite the same appetite here in the UK.”

The deep dish can serve up to eight people, so make sure you share it between friends and family.
