Burger King New Zealand have removed an advert which shows people trying to eat a burger with oversized red chopsticks following criticism on social media.
The fast-food chain was advertising the launch of a new Vietnamese burger, that they said would "take your taste buds all the way to Ho Chi Minh City." According to The Guardian, the ad was quickly deleted, and Burger King has since issued an apology, saying it was “insensitive and does not reflect our brand values regarding diversity and inclusion.” “We have asked our franchise in New Zealand to remove the ad immediately A screengrab of the video was shared on Twitter and has over 4,000 retweets at the time of writing. https://twitter.com/mariahmocarey/status/1113705743478190080 “Chopsticks are hilarious right?” tweeted Maria Mo, a New Zealander who was among the first to condemn the advert online.
