Aldi’s absolutely massive ‘Big Daddy’ steak is back for the Bank Holiday weekend

James Dawson

Here’s it comes

Aldi’s infamous ‘Big Daddy’ steak that weighs nearly half a kilo and costs less than a fiver is back for the late May Bank Holiday weekend.

If you can’t remember its exact spec, allow me to remind you: it weighs 16oz in total –  or nearly half a kilogram – and the retailer claims the steak is 100g bigger and 42 percent cheaper than its Tesco equivalent.

The rump is made up of several different muscles from the rear. It’s a lean steak with a great mix of texture and rich flavours and is best thick-cut and cooked over a very high heat, with a generous resting time up to 10 minutes.

A statement from Aldi said: “Back by popular demand, the 16oz ‘Big Daddy’ Extra Thick Rump Steak is returning! The 21-day matured steak costs only £4.99 and is best cooked over a very high heat, with a generous resting time.

“But, if you want to get your teeth into one of Aldi’s BIG BBQ offers, you’ll have to be quick as once it’s gone, it’s gone!”

It will be on sale in stores across the UK from Thursday, 24 May – but you’ll have to be quick as once supplies are gone, they’re gone.

A number of other meats are going on sale in the store ahead of next week’s ‘National BBQ Week’  – including Aldi’s Colossal Beef Burger, which is equivalent to four quarter pounders and costs £2.69.

Definitely not something to miss out on.
