Forest Green Rovers are the UK’s first vegan football club, but how do professional players function on a plant-based diet?
In episode four of Plant Powered, Alex Roberts travelled to Forest Green’s home ground to find out exactly why they became vegan - and how it impacts performance on and off the pitch.
The club’s chairman, Dale Vince explains why the menu contains no meat, while the Head Chef Jade whipped up a plant-based mac and cheese that the players eat after a game.
Alex also spoke to Forest Green defender Matt Mills, who spoke about what it’s like competing as a player on a vegan diet.
