‘She was the best of the best, and that is a testament to her. Thank you’

Former X Factor contestant Tom Mann has spoken out two weeks after the tragic death of his fiancée Dani Hampson on the morning of their wedding.

The couple were due to be wed on June 18, but Hampson died suddenly just hours before the nuptials. The two share a kid together, eight-month-old Bowie.

Taking to Instagram, the 28-year-old singer said that day would remain the “worst day of my life.”

Alongside a picture of himself and Hampson, he wrote: “Nearly 3 weeks on from what will always remain the worst day of my life. Still in shock & still no words – my beautiful Dani is an indescribable loss.

“Nothing can be said or done but I need to acknowledge the immense amount of love, kindness & support that Bowie, Dan’s family, my family & I have received. It has overwhelmed us.”

He continued: “In the darkest of times, it is extremely difficult to feel anything other than sadness, let alone gratitude, but we have found glimpses of feeling that union of love that has come from far & wide for our Dani.

“She was the best of the best, and that is a testament to her. Thank you.”

Mann was flooded with messages following the news, with other contestants also sharing their condolences in the comment section. Cleaning hero Mrs Hinch, musician Tom Grennan and Lewis Capaldi all commented on the initial post.

Simon Cowell, 62, told TMZ that he plans on reaching out to Mann, who he worked with on the popular competition show.

“As a father myself, I cannot simply imagine the heartbreak Tom and his family are going through and I will be personally reaching out to him,” he said. “From my family to his, we extend our deepest condolences and all of our love during this tragic time.”
