Vladimir Putin “is lovely” says Elton John’s husband

'Lovely' is not the first adjective most would use when describing Vladimir Putin.

Well, Sir Elton John's husband David Furnish would. He thinks the Russian President is a "genuinely lovely" man.

Putin recently called the British superstar to apologise after he was pranked by TV presenters pretending to be him and says he's keen to find the time to discuss gay rights.

David, 52, told the Daily Mirror: "Putin is lovely. He and Elton spoke on the phone and the Kremlin have confirmed that.

"Now they're trying to get a date in the diary to talk face to face. That may surprise people but I take people as I find them and he was so polite and lovely on the phone.

"He's genuinely lovely. Besides, this isn't about politics - I'm not a politician - it's about humanity."
