Michael Stipe performed a beautiful version of ‘The Man Who Sold The World’ on US TV

David Bowie would be proud.

Three months on from his passing, two concerts in memory of the late David Bowie will take place in New York this week, and R.E.M. frontman Michael Stipe is one of a number of artists scheduled to perform.

Stipe’s public appearances are pretty rare, but ahead of the Bowie tribute gigs he did turn up on Late Night With Jimmy Fallon and performed a unique version of one of Bowie’s best-known hits, ‘The Man Who Sold The World’.

Sporting a very long and very grey beard, Stipe delivered a quite beautiful and unique version of a track that has been covered by Nirvana in the past.

If you’re a Bowie fan, or even if you like any of the previously released versions of the song, then it’s well worth a listen.

A fitting tribute.
