Donald Trump adviser raps Beyonce lyrics and compares them to Trump’s misogyny

What. Is. Happening.

Just when you thought the US election campaign couldn’t get any more bizarre.

Seriously, are we all locked into some crap early prototype of the matrix? Is the world’s population collectively sharing in the same cheese-fuelled lucid dream? There was a time when the election of the next President of the United States of America was an incredibly serious undertaking. Deciding upon the de facto Leader of the Free World really fucking mattered.

This year it has descended into pure farce, a pantomime of villains and greater villains, grotesque flashbacks, deleted emails, and angry orange faces. It’s like the biggest and worst reality TV escapade of all time – The Truman Show meets The Apprentice meets very hard drugs. And just as we assume the nonsense has reached its final nadir, we dive even deeper.

Following the second Presidential debate between Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump, and after the widespread furore over Trump’s vile “grab her by the pussy” comments, an official economic advisor to his campaign appeared on CNN quoting Beyonce lyrics, and citing them as a suitable defence of what ‘The Donald’ said back in 2005.

Betsy McCaughey, a former Republican politician and committed Trump surrogate, refused to condemn her fluorescent leader’s misogyny, even whilst other prominent GOP members did so emphatically. She described such critics as “rats fleeing at the first sign of trouble”, and then went on to make a ludicrous comparison to the rap music.

Arguing that she herself didn’t like the genre because of the flagrant use of the F-word, P-word, B- word and A-word (arse?), McCaughey confused the rest of the CNN panel by quoting from the Beyonce song, Red Lobster.

Comically reading out: “I came to slay bitch, when he [fuck] me good I take his ass to Red Lobster…”, she argued that Clinton was a hypocrite for describing Trump’s comments as “horrific” whilst at the same time openly admitting to being a fan of the RnB artist. Because, you know, sweary lyrics about consenting sexual activity = abusive misogyny.

Let’s hope this is all a bad dream and we wake up soon…
