Thousands of people want Louis Theroux to be the next Prime Minister

To be honest, it’s no stranger than Trump.

He has spoken with drug addicts, cult leaders and murderers, but there’s growing support for documentarian Louis Theroux to move into the dangerous world of politics. To be honest, we wouldn’t blame him if he ran a thousand miles in the opposite direction of Downing Street.

After Theresa May’s decision to call a General Election, an online petition has surfaced, which at the present time of writing, has over 4,200 signatures of its intended 5,000 target.

While we would be extremely curious to hear Theroux’s manifesto, the creators of this petition believe that the gifted broadcaster is a suitable candidate on the grounds that he’s “one of the most understanding, smart and trusted men in the UK.”

The petition reads: “Since the EU referendum in Britain, politicians, experts and those with the country in their hands have failed to show they are capable of leading the nation during this complex time. We call on the government to accept that the only right thing to do is appoint presenter, documentary maker and national treasure Louis Theroux as the next Prime Minister.”

It adds: “As one of the most understanding, smart and trusted men in the UK, Mr Theroux (probably) has more skills to work out what is best for post-Brexit Britain than May, Farage and Corbyn combined. And if he fails, at least he can make a bloody good film about it (or become leader of the opposition and fire some pretty great questions around the Houses of Parliament).”

Mmm, as amazing as Theroux is, we’re not even sure if his amazing powers of persuasion could get a straight answer out of some MPs.

Still though, this hasn’t stopped people from spreading their messages of support.
