"I began to feel like four seasons was the right lifespan"
Creator of the acclaimed sitcom The Good Place Michael Schur has announced that the show is going to end after season four.
In a statement on Twitter, Schur explained that he thinks 50 episodes is the right length for the show to run.

"After The Good Place was picked up for season two, the writing staff and I began to map out, as best we could, the trajectory of the show," Schur explained.
"Given the ideas we wanted to explore, and the pace at which we wanted to present those ideas, I began to feel like four seasons – just over 50 episodes – was the right lifespan. At times over the past few years we’ve been tempted to go beyond four seasons, but mostly because making this show is a rare creatively fulfilling joy. At the end of the day, we don’t want to tread water just because the water is so warm and pleasant. As such, the upcoming fourth season will be our last."
The Good Place stars Kristen Bell as a selfish young woman who finds herself in Heaven - aka the titular 'good place' - after she dies suddenly. Realising that she clearly doesn't deserve to be there, she tries to figure out what is actually going, while adjusting to her new neighbours, played by Jameela Jamil, William Jackson Harper and Manny Jacinto.
Ted Danson also stars as Michael, the architect of the Good Place, along with D'Arcy Carden, his computer assistant.
In December 2018, NBC renewed the show for a fourth - and now final - season.
