It's not what we expected.

People were quick to pick up on the veteran actor’s style choice.

As with all big Hollywood award ceremonies, all eyes were on the celebrities last night as they walked the red carpet at the Screen Actors Guild Awards, in gowns and suits that cost more than we could ever afford.

While it’s usually the women’s dresses that attract the most attention, Morgan Freeman was the person who got people talking at the SAGs.

Not for his outfit specifically, but because he was wearing a single glove on his left hand. People noticed this statement piece and also pointed out that he seems to wear just one glove to a lot of events.

But why just one glove?

Well, it turns out it’s for a very specific reason. He hurt his hand in a car crash in 2008, which left it paralysed. As a result, he suffers from fibromyalgia, which can prove extremely painful.

In order to keep the circulation of blood in his hand, he wears the compression glove to increase the blood flow.

“I suffered nerve damage and it hasn’t gotten better. I can’t move it. If you don’t move your hand, it will swell up. Do you know you move your hand about a million times a day?,” he told PEOPLE.
