Netflix’s new sci-fi horror is giving us a very strong Alien vibe

It is based on a book by Game of Thrones creator George R.R. Martin.

Paul Moore

The new show from the creator of Game of Thrones.

As of now, Season 8 of Game of Throne is busy filming in Northern Ireland but George R.R Martin’s gaze might be focused on another part of Ireland – damn it George, just finish The Winds of Winter already!

Anyway, as stated previously, a new show that’s based on one of Martin’s other works is currently in production and it’s being filmed in Limerick.

Based on George R. R. Martin’s novella, Nightflyers is set in the future on the eve of Earth’s destruction.  A crew of explorers journey on the most advanced ship in the galaxy, The Nightflyer, to intercept a mysterious alien spacecraft that might hold the key to their survival.

As the crew nears their destination, they discover that the ship’s artificial intelligence and never-seen captain may be steering them into deadly and unspeakable horrors deep in the dark reaches of space.

Along for the chilling ride are Gretchen Mol (Boardwalk Empire) as Dr. Agatha Matheson alongside Eoin Macken (The Night Shift) as Karl D’Branin, David Ajala (Fast & Furious 6) as Roy Eris, Sam Strike (EastEnders) as Thale, Maya Eshet (Teen Wolf) as Lommie, Angus Sampson (Fargo) as Rowan, Jodie Turner-Smith (The Last Ship) as Melantha Jhirl and Brían F. O’Byrne (Million Dollar Baby) as Auggie.

Having seen the most recent trailer, we got a strong Event Horizon meets Alien vibe from Nightflyers and that is a very, very good thing.

Nightflyers will air exclusively on Netflix worldwide, excluding the United States.
