As 2024 draws near to its end it's hard to look back and not think that it's been a bit of strange one.
From reunion galore to the continued mind-numbing shenanigans of the internet, the latest news that Snoop Dogg is making a Planet of the Apes-style movie, but with dogs, is as much weird as it is no surprise to anyone.
The famous hip-hop artist is no stranger to the big screen, featuring in a range of movies including his 2006 comedy horror Snoop Dogg's Hood of Horror, 2024's Underdogs as well as the soon to be released Pharrell Williams Lego biopic, Piece by Piece.
With this experience under his belt, Snoop has now revealed that he has a new movie-based project in the works.
Speaking about his upcoming projects to Variety, he said: "I can't really give up the storyline, but I'm going to [share] the idea.
"I love Planet of the Apes. Planet of the Apes made me wait too long to see the next one."
With the seven year gap between the two latest Planet of the Apes films, Snoop decided to take matter into his own hands.
"I’m going to do something in that vein, where you don't have to wait.
"But just imagine it was dogs instead of apes."
The mind runs wild when contemplating what the eventual film could look like if it ever does make it to screens.
The theme of the film lays somewhere on a spectrum between a pure Planet of the Apes remake, but with dogs on horses and with guns, or something more similar to 2023's comedy Strays.
Who knows what the film will entail, but the general feeling is that a lot of it will hinge on the lack of apposable thumbs on dogs, potentially leading to some hurdles that the apes did not have to overcome.
