Smallville actress arrested for alleged sex trafficking

The star of the 2000s teen drama was reportedly a “key recruiter” for a sex cult

Wil Jones

This is a horrible story.

You probably watched at least some of Smallville when you were a teenager. The DC Comics show melded the Superman mythos with an OC-style teen drama, and it was incredibly successful, running for ten seasons and 218 episodes.

Most of the characters were based on elements of the comics – but one big character was an original creation was Chloe Sullivan, Clark Kent’s best friend in high school who was secretly in love with him. Chloe was memorably played by Alison Mack, and was later introduced into the comic books.

Post-Smallville, Mack’s acting credits have been rather spotty – but shocking news about her recently came to light. The 35 year old actress has been arrested and charged with sex trafficking, sex trafficking conspiracy and forced labor conspiracy, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of New York.

It follows the earlier revelation that Mack was reportedly second in command of the ‘self help’ cult NXIVM. Leader of NXIVM Keith Raniere was arrested in Mexico on March 26th and also faces charges of sex trafficking. Mack was allegedly a “key recruiter” for the cult, luring women into the organisation, where they were branded and held as sex slaves.

Mack has pleaded not guilty to the charges.
