Scarlett Johansson is teasing details about a standalone Black Widow film

As every single hero in the Marvel Cinematic Universe gets set to take on Thanos in Avengers: Infinity War, the focus is very much on the issue of survival because the stakes have never been higher. As stated previously, the first spoiler-free reactions to the Russos latest epic are extremely positive but aside from Infinity War, parts one and two, Marvel have been coy about their future slate. We already know that Marvel has signed off on the following films; Ant Man and The Wasp, Captain Marvel, the second part of Infinity War, Guardians of the Galaxy: Volume 3 and a sequel to Spider-Man: Homecoming. After those, we've no idea what's on the cards. This being said, rumours have been circulating that Natasha Romanoff/Black Widow will finally be getting her own film. Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige has previously said that the company is 'creatively and emotionally' committed to a solo Black Widow film. "Where we go beyond that are ongoing discussions that we’ll focus on in the next few years because we have a lot to do before then," Feige said in an interview with Deadline. "I would say certainly the one creatively and emotionally that we are most committing to doing is Black Widow." Avengers: Infinity War marks the sixth time that Scarlett Johansson has played the character on the big screen, and it might not be the last if the actress has anything to say about it. During an interview with Ellen DeGeneres, Johansson reiterated her interest in continuing to play the character. “I think there’s room for it (standalone film). The only way to do it would be if it were something that we’ve never seen before that was really groundbreaking and incredibly badass. I think if anyone could make that happen my boss Kevin Feige (Marvel President0 could. He’s a visionary. I think it could be something really special. There's a lot of room there. The character has a tortured past, she’s had to make a lot of difficult decisions. She has a lot of trauma. She’s got issues. There’s room to work them all out," she said. Of course, there's the small matter of Black Widow surviving the events of Infinity War, but it's clear that the character is highly regarded in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. After making her bow in Iron Man 2, it appears that Natasha Romanoff is finally getting her own film. Lock and load.
