On Netflix, no one can hear you scream
The
Alien movies have endured as some of the most iconic sci-fi movies of all time. Deftly blending genres, the series has morphed and adapted as it has gone on.
Alien is a claustrophobic straight-up haunted house movie that just happens to be set in space.
Aliens turns it into a big space marine shoot-em-up.
Alien 3 is a weird, twisted, flawed but fascinating beast. Then, er,
Alien Resurrection isn’t very good, and the less said about the
Alien V Predator movies the better.
Recently though,
Prometheus and
Alien Covenant, though again flawed, have definitely been interesting films.

The series has also spun off into other mediums, including comic books, novels, and some great video games – from the PS1 classic
Alien Trilogy, to 2014’s
Alien: Isolation.
No matter what format it is in, the xenomorph creature, designed by H R Geiger, remains one of the scariest monsters in movies.
But it looks like the series could be heading somewhere it has never been before: television.
Fan site
Omega Underground is reporting that they have multiple sources saying that a TV show set in the
Alien universe is being considered by 20
th Century Fox.
There is little other info at the moment – though apparently there is internal debate whether it should air on a cable network like FX, or on a streaming service.
As for where in the
Alien universe it could be set – there are plenty of possibilities. It might be most obvious to focus around the space marines of
Aliens, but
Prometheus introduced lot of backstory for the Weyland Corporation, that could be interesting to delve into.
