He’s back on the small screen
Peter Kay will be returning to TV screens this Christmas after a period of time away from television over the last couple of years.
We may not even have hit Halloween yet, but the Christmas TV lineup is already looking pretty tasty.
The television schedule has become one of the defining parts of Christmas. Whether its the culmination of a huge soap storyline or a festive special episode, there’s always some cracking TV on the box over the festive period.
This year is no different, and one of the highlights of the Christmas 2024 TV schedule is the new Wallace & Gromit film.
The first trailer for the new film dropped this week, giving fans a glimpse at what to expect from Wallace & Gromit: Vengeance Most Fowl.
This also revealed some of the characters and cast involved, and confirmed that Peter Kay would be starring in the film.
The Bolton comic will be reprising his role from 2005 film The Curse of the Were-Rabbit, in which he played Chief Inspector Albert Mackintosh.
Of course, this isn’t the only returning character for the film, with the villainous Feathers McGraw also making a comeback for the Aardman production.
You can watch the trailer for Wallace & Gromit: Vengeance Most Fowl below.
Inside Number 9 and League of Gentlemen star Reece Shearsmith will also be lending his voice to the film as Norbot the Gnome, whilst the likes of Diane Morgan, Adjoe Andoh and Lenny Henry will also have cameos.
Vengeance Most Fowl has been made as part of a collaboration between the BBC and Netflix, and will premier on Christmas Day on BBC, before it is available to stream from 3 January on Netflix.
Charlotte Moore, Chief Content Officer at the BBC, said: “This new feature length Wallace and Gromit film will captivate audiences of all ages this Christmas on the BBC as the longed for return of penguin Feathers McGraw joins forces with evil gnomes in a unmissable adventure celebrating British creativity at its best.”
Kay has spent much of the last two years touring his hugely successful show at arenas across the country, which has included a monthly residence at London’s O2 Arena until April 2025.
This has meant that, after the success of his Car Share series, he’s largely been absent from TV in recent years.
