People are pointing out The Simpsons 'predicted' Toys R Us would close back in 2004
Good night sweet prince
The Simpsons has form on predicting the future - be it the election of Donald Trump or the use of horse meat in food products.
Toys R Us' closure is the latest forecast to be added to that long, long list. On Thursday the toy retailer began its dirt cheap closing sale, selling some items as cheap as 6p ahead of mass branch closures. Filing for bankruptcy, the brand is closing all 735 of its US outlets.
14 years ago, in "Marge vs Singles, Seniors, Childless Couples and Teens, and Gays," The Simpsons alluded to the closure.
The episode sees a group of childless adults try to destroy every child-friendly thing in Springfield.
The group deface Toys R Us by turning the logo’s backward ‘R’ to the proper direction as children cry and watch on.
Fans of cartoons and toy shops were quick to point out the parallels between the animation and reality.
