Ozzy Osbourne doesn’t want Johnny Depp to play him in biopic

The Black Sabbath frontman unleashed an expletive rant about the Hollywood actor.

Ozzy Osbourne has declared that he does not want Johnny Depp to play him in a planned biopic about his life and relationship with wife Sharon.

It’s no surprise that someone wants to turn the legendary rocker’s crazy life story into a film.

The ‘Prince of Darkness’ rose to prominence during the 1970s as the lead singer of the heavy metal band Black Sabbath.

The age-old rock music cliche of band members throwing television sets out of a hotel window very much comes from the wild antics of Osbourne in his early days.

Among the other outrageous things the Birmingham native has done are drugging his local bishop with an Afghan hash-infused cake and urinating on the sacred Cenotaph next to the Alamo building in Texas while walking home drunk.

Now, Sony Pictures and Polygram Entertainment are developing a biopic chronicling the extraordinary life of the rock legend and the great love story between him and his wife, Sharon.

The film will be written by Academy Award nominee Lee Hall, and there has been tons of speculation as to who would be the right fit to depict Ozzy.

While Ozzy hasn’t gotten behind any name that has been thrown in the mix, he has taken the time to voice his disapproval of one actor in particular.

In an interview with Consequence, Osbourne said: “I don’t want to have anyone like Johnny Depp act as me. I rather have someone who is relatively unknown.

“I don’t give a shit,” he added. “I mean, if it’s a hit, great. As long as it’s not too tongue-in-cheek and bullshitty, you know?”

Although there is not much information about it yet, it is known that the film will show the intense moments in Ozzy’s life, especially with Sharon. It will show the struggle with addictions that Ozzy has gone through, who doesn’t mind his life being shown for what it is on the big screen.

Sharon also previously stated that the family don’t want their film to resemble Bohemian Rhapsody – which chronicles the life of Queen singer Freddie Mercury – as they consider the latter a ‘Hallmark movie’ and theirs they want to be more raw and intense.

“Our movie has to be much more real,” she said. “We don’t want it to be squeaky, sparkly clean and all that. It’s not a movie we’re going to make for kids. It’s an adult film, for adults.”

As of now, no casting announcement has been made for the project.

During his radio show broadcast on Sirius XM, Ozzy’s Boneyard, the 75-year-old had some positive things to say about Depp’s recent emergence as a touring musician with his band The Hollywood Vampires.

“There was a time when rock stars wanted to be movie stars and movie stars wanted to be rock stars.”

He added: “Make your f**king mind up what you want to do! Why do you want to be a rock star when you want to be in movies?

“There ain’t many that can do it all and pull it off. Johnny Depp is pretty good at doing both.”
