Netflix has released the first trailer for season four of Stranger Things, and it hints that we may be about to learn more about Eleven’s mysterious past and upbringing.

It starts off in Hawkins National Laboratory where we can see a group of young children playing with toys, before a man that they refer to as ‘Papa’ enters the room and tell them sinisterly that he “has something planned for them.”

The camera then pans round and zooms in on a door marked “11” and we hear a voice ask: “Eleven, are you listening?”

The we see the recognisable eyes of Eleven shoot open.

Despite the mysterious nature and vibe of the trailer that it must be said is more of a tease at the moment, fans have been sent into frenzy about the return of one of Netflix’s most popular and successful shows.

One Twitter user posted: “We are ready.”

Another said: “‘Eleven are you listening?’ Literal goosebumps you guys.”

While a third wrote: “If the fourth season is going to have to do something with Eleven’s past, yes I’m all ears and I would love to listen to what’s going on with that.”

Meanwhile others wanted a release date so that they knew when they should book time off wprk to binge the series.

It has been a while since we last made the trip to Hawkins to catch up with Mike, Will, Lucas, Dustin and Eleven, as filming of the latest instalment of the popular series was halted due to the pandemic.

Earlier this year production did start again though, and not a moment too soon, although Finn Wolfhard, who plays Mike Wheeler, recently disappointed fans when he revealed that the show was most likely to hit Netflix “some time next year.”

Watch this space for a release date….
