Clear your diaries

Love Island has taken over many people’s lives over the past six or so weeks, what with its carefully constructed conflict and foolproof way of making viewers emotionally invested in the outcome. It’s quite incredible the way such a concept has enthralled a nation, but that is the nature of reality TV – it provides an escape.

But now, many of you might be desperate for an escape from Love Island. It has dominated most of your evenings for more than a month and now you’re simply wishing for it to conclude so you can move on with your life, safe in the knowledge that Jack and Dani will live happily every after.

Great news: the finale date has been announced. The last episode of this year’s Love Island series will take place on 30th July.

The Radio Times has listed the penultimate episode to be shown on Sunday 29th July, meaning that the following day will show the big finale.

Avid viewers will be filled with a mix of emotions: excitement, relief, disapppointment that it’s over. But fear not, as it will of course return next year and we can do it all over again.

Don’t cry because it’s over. Smile because it happened.
