Liam Gallagher’s set at Glastonbury was absolutely storming

Our kid also paid a touching tribute to the victims of the Manchester/London attacks and the Grenfell Tower fire.

Words can’t express just how happy we are to have Liam Gallagher back on the music scene because even if you don’t like his tunes, the man is a bonafide rock and roll star.

With this in mind, what better way is there for the former Oasis singer to start his set than with the iconic opening track from Definitely Maybe, Rock and Roll Star.

Just like he did at One Love Manchester, the singer came onto the stage with the swagger, strut and cheek that we all love so much.

Those opening chords are so bloody good! You just want to jump around and wreck the place.

If you’re curious about his setlist, Liam didn’t disappoint because he mixed up some of the tracks from his new solo album, As You Were, with some absolute bangers from Oasis.

Rock and Roll Star, Morning Glory, Wall of Glass, Greedy Soul, Bold, D’You Know What I Mean?, Slide Away, I Get By, You Better Run, Universal Gleam, Be Here Now and Don’t Look Back in Anger weer all on offer to the Glastonbury faithful.

Hell, even David Beckham dropped by to see the Manchester City fan play.

In terms of his final song, there’s no denying that our kid picked an absolute classic, but in doing so, the former Oasis frontman made a little piece of history because for the first time ever at a concert, Liam sang Don’t Look Back in Anger.

Speaking with Jo Whiley, Liam expressed just how genuinely moved he was by the fact that Don’t Look Back in Anger gave some comfort to those that were in mourning after the Manchester attack. “I feel good because I’d rather that people come to music to get some guidance rather than these silly politicians that just don’t seem to care.’

Noel Gallagher was also at Glastonbury for a Q&A session ahead of the Oasis documentary Supersonic being screened and he also discussed the classic anthem and the inspiration behind it.

“I gotta say, I was sat at home watching the minute’s silence when they starting singing, and for the first time in my life I was fucking speechless,” Gallagher said. I was honestly taken aback. Even now, I still don’t know what to say. The fact that people rallied around this song.

About a year ago I was doing a gig with Richard Ashcroft,” said Noel. “I always thought it was Liam that did Sally, but he said ‘it was me. Richard Ashcroft claims he came up with the name. But I got all the swimming pools and fucking massive TVs,” he said.

Take a look at both men as they lead the crowd in a massive singalong of the Oasis classic.
