Kasabian’s Serge Pizzorno is a life long Leicester City fan, so no wonder he is buzzing after hearing it was their song Fire which helped spur Leicester City to victory in their first game of the season.

Leicester manager Claudio Ranieri said that it was that tune which got the squad revved up for their 4-2 win over Sunderland at the King Power Stadium.

Speaking after the game, the team’s new Italian manager said that he instructed the team to turn into “warriors” when they ran out onto the pitch to the Kasabian song.

He added: “Kasabian are a fantastic rock band from Leicester and I think the guitar man, Serge, is Italian. “It’s good and I think they [the fans] love fighters. We are fighters.”

Speaking to BBC 5 live, Pizzorno said: “I think that’s up there with the ultimate, I could give all my awards up for that.

“That will do me. It was the first game as well. For him to say that on Match Of The Day was just, wow.

“The form we were on at the back of last season, you prayed that we could just carry on but it seems we have a bit more. To be 3-0 up at half-time on the first day of the season was just incredible.”

Mr. Ranieiri will be nipping round Serge’s casa for a bowl of gnocchi in no time.
