The trailer for the new Halloween film is absolutely terrifying
It's out 19 October and it looks like it's going to be amazing
The new Halloween movie has been a long time coming, with work starting in 2011 - forty years after the original. After six years in the making, we can only hope the finished film is as thrilling and jaw-clenching as the trailer.
But for those who didn’t enjoy the previous Halloween remakes, don’t worry, because this one has been put in the hands of a new production.
Dimension films lost the rights to the Halloween franchise after a poor reception for the two reboots. The company Blumhouse Productions have taken over the rights, and they’re starting afresh and erasing the last two films from our memory.
But, the good news is that the director of the original, John Carpenter, has played a prominent role in the making of the film. It will also feature the return of some of the classic actors, including Jamie Lee Curtis as Laura Strode.
The film sets off as a sequel to the original Halloween – as Laurie Curtis is given a second chance to defeat the blood-thirsty Halloween murderer, Michel Myers. But this time she’s older, faster and more of a bad-ass than ever.
The actress told EW: "The first movie I was running more, and in this movie I’m hunting more,” says Curtis. “[You] watch this woman take back the narrative of her life.”
"It's almost an alternative reality. It picks up after the first one and it pretends that none of the others were made. It's gonna be fun. There's a really talented director and it was well-written. I'm impressed."
The film promises to be better and scarier than ever – and after a forty year wait for some, we can only put our faith in John Carpenter’s talent.
“It is everything that the first movie was,” Curtis adds of the new Halloween - “It’s simple, it’s terrifying.”
The film is set to be released in theatres 19 October – a near-Halloween treat.
