Kim and Kanye are parents again. Congratulations and all that.

Their third child arrived – a “healthy, beautiful” baby girl arrived via surrogate on Monday, weighing 7lbs 6oz. Now though, the interesting bit: what they’ve decided to call the newborn.

Revealing the news on her website, Kim said:

“Kanye and I are happy to announce the arrival of our healthy, beautiful baby girl.

“We are incredibly grateful to our surrogate who made our dreams come true with the greatest gift one could give and to our wonderful doctors and nurses for their special care.

“North and Saint are especially thrilled to welcome their baby sister.”

With older siblings named North and Saint, the new arrival was always going to have a relatively unique name. As it turns out, Kimye have drawn inspiration from one of America’s biggest cities – Chicago – also Kanye’s hometown.

According to TMZ, Chicago’s siblings – 4-year-old North and Saint, 2, have been referring to her by the nickname ‘Chi’ (pronounced Shy).

It comes as the reality TV star opened up about what it was like to bring a child into the world via a surrogate.

In the latest post on her website, the reality star explains that she had a gestational carrier, which is a surrogate who has no genetic link to the baby.

Kim clarified it by saying “the technical term for a woman who carries a baby that she has no biological relationship to.”

The mum-of-three suffered from preeclampsia and placenta accrete during her pregnancies with North and Saint, and thought it was best to go through an agency to find her gestational carrier.

She said:

“Although I never would have expected to go through something like this, the agency was so helpful and made me feel at ease about the whole process.

“Kanye and I were so blessed to have found the most amazing gestational carrier. We have a great relationship with her and trusted her completely throughout the entire process.”

She also notes that while every women and pregnancy is different, “I absolutely love my gestational carrier and this was the best experience I’ve ever had.”
