‘You know exactly why Mr Depp won’t look back at you’
Johnny Depp has refused to look at Amber Heard throughout his defamation proceedings, fulfilling a promise he made to her that she will “never see his eyes again” after she accused him of being an abuser.
Heard was told by Depp’s legal team that the Pirates of the Caribbean star had not “looked at you once during this entire trial, has he”, to which she replied, “not that I’ve noticed, ‘no’.”
“You’ve looked at him though, many times, haven’t you?” Heard was asked. She said she had.
“You know exactly why Mr Depp won’t look back at you, don’t you,” Depp’s lawyer Camille Vasquez said.
Heard said she did.

“He promised you, you would never see his eyes again, isn’t that true?”
Heard said she was unable to “recall if he said that”.
Depp is suing Heard for defamation over an op-ed she wrote in 2018 which he believes inferred he had physically and sexually abused her while they were married from 2015 to 2017. Heard is counter-suing for $100m.
Asked about her accusations that Depp was an abuser, the actress continued: “He is an abuser… and you can look either of us up online and see who’s being abused.”
Heard admitted there were no medical records to prove she had suffered the injuries she had previously described as having suffered at the hands of Depp, including being violated with a bottle in Australia in March 2015.
She was questioned by Vasquez about the lack of visible injuries following several incidents, with red carpet photos shown to the jurors, and why she had not yet donated her $7 million dollar (£5.7 million) divorce settlement to charities.
Heard repeatedly replied that she had “pledged” the money but said she had not been able to honour it due to Depp’s proceedings.
Concluding her direct evidence earlier on Monday, Heard said that the only person that believes that her op-ed article is about Depp “ironically, is Johnny”.
“It’s about me, it’s about what happened to me after Johnny… after I escaped my marriage,” she told the court.
“It’s about me and my life and what I endured once I moved on with my life. The only one who made it about him, ironically, is Johnny.”
Becoming emotional, she added: “I want to move on with my life… I want Johnny to move on.”
Heard also denied involvement in an alleged “prank” involving faecal matter in April 2016 that caused Depp to become enraged.
She said the actor had become “delusional” when asked about the incident, which happened shortly after her 30th birthday.
The court heard Depp had discovered faecal matter on a bed at one of his LA properties and had called Heard about it.
“I don’t think that’s funny, I don’t know what grown woman does. I was also not in a pranking mood,” Heard said.
“My life was falling apart. It was not really a jovial time and I don’t think that’s funny. Period. That’s disgusting.”
The court heard a suggestion that the faecal matter had come from Depp’s Yorkshire terrier Boo, which had “bowel control issues” after ingesting some of the actor’s marijuana as a puppy.
