JOE’s weekly entertainment wipe…

It's a dirty business

Lia Nicholls

Welcome to JOE’s weekly wipe on the world of entertainment, where we bring you everything you need to know, well not really but…

From Drake’s smooth grooves to James Bond’s pulsating pistol to Star Wars racists, this is the second serving weekly wipe serving.

Did they really say that?

Somewhere in a galaxy far, far away, Yoda is shaking his head with disappointment.

As the world went a little bit nuts as the final trailer of Star Wars: The Force Awakens dropped, scrambling for advance cinema tickets and crashing websites, the promo is so powerful, the cast even cried when they saw it. But while we were celebrating the fact it’s less than two months away along came the dark side.

BoycottStarWarsVII started as a ‘joke’, a really bad one, but was quickly taken over by actual racists in protest of making a Jedi, who happens to be black, a new hero of the franchise.

F*ck yes!

The hype is to be believed about Spectre, just. Sex, guns, gadgets, car chases, Christoph Walktz and Daniel Craig rocking a roll neck, yes, the 24th James Bond film ticks many boxes. What is a shame is that finally when we thought the shagging spy had fallen for a women his own age (Monica Bellucci), it turns out he hasn’t: he f*cks her and opts for the younger blonde. Some things never change, eh?

F*ck no, yes, no!

Drake’s dad-dancing in the video for his summer song Hotline Bing inspired more memes since David Cameron’s pig-gate. A few Drizzy fans said it was all a p*ss-take and he meant to dance like a dafty. A p*ss-take of what, who? Himself? But who am I to give him a hard time? He seems like a decent man, if not a little geeky, and besides, after a few views, I started to sway along with him – it was most relaxing. As long as his super amazing girlfriend Serena Williams is happy…

The best album released this week…

It has been less than two months since Beach House released their last album Depression Cherry but clearly dissatisfied leaving their fans in melancholy for too long, the dreamy duo have released a new record – Thank Your Lucky Stars. Whereas I couldn’t get through more than one listen of the former offering, these melodies are far more soothing. Play it with a glass of red in the bath.

Going to the flicks this weekend…

While Daniel Craig is running the show with Sceptre, his real life Bond woman Rachel Weisz is starring in a very different film in The Lobster. Starring Weisz as a leading role alongside Colin Farrell, where the law is everyone must find permanent love or are cast into the wild as beasts. It’s dystopian lunacy at its best, just like a regular Saturday night in Clapham…

Wise words…

We’ve reached the future that Marty McFly and Doc Brown travelled to and while super fans procrastinate about hoverboads, Doc offered some wisdom. (Okay so it’s for a DVD promotion but forget that).

Doc says, “The future has finally arrived, yes it is different than what we all thought, but don’t worry, it just means your future hasn’t been written yet, no-one’s has, your future is whatever you make it, so make it a good one!”

Will do Doc x
