The JOE Friday Pub Quiz: Week 122

Let's have a quiz then

Rich Cooper

And when Alexander saw the breadth of his domain, he wept for there were no more worlds to conquer.

There is, however, the JOE Friday Pub Quiz, cruelly born some 2,342 years after the ancient Greek military leader’s death. He may have been King of Persia, Pharaoh of Egypt and Lord of Asia, but he’ll never earn himself a pint. And that, historians say, was his greatest regret.

In any case, I fear that this quiz may not have played to Alexander the Great’s strengths. Being taught by Aristotle don’t make you a Pub Quiz Champion, son.

If Big Al were to appear on Celebrity Mastermind, he’d do well on the specialist subject round (Crushing Enemies and Taking Their Homelands), but he’d come unstuck on general knowledge. I could be wrong, but I don’t think the timelines of ancient Greece and mid ’90s sitcoms quite line up.

Alex, if this quiz reaches you in whatever version of damnation you’ve been condemned to: have a crack and let me know how you get on.

For the rest of you non-ancient Greeks, it’s pretty much business as usual. Except for the round on nuts. That’s a bit left-field. Then again, so is dedicating most of the introduction to Alexander the Great. Whatever.
