Jeremy Clarkson has warned fans that some of his bottles of cider, produced on his Diddly Squat farm, may explode.

The Television star issued a statement on Twitter in which he said that there had been a “massive c—up” leading to a “slim-chance” some bottles of Hawkstone cider may erupt.

Clarkson advised anyone who had bought some of the cider to open it under water and pour the contents of it down the sink, as well as offering a full refund.

Those affected will carry the code L3160 on their cap.

Hawkstone cider is brewed by Cotswold Brewing Co in Gloucestershire and according to Clarkson, some of the cider was over-fermenting.

In a statement on Facebook, they said: “Warning: please check any Hawkstone cider you have at home and see if the cap reads L3160 – a small amount of it is over fermenting – if you have any of this batch it is important to dispose of it now under the water tap and take care as these are in glass bottles – then take a photo of the caps and we will send you a fresh batch or a refund …whichever you choose…if you have already drink the cider please don’t worry – apologies from us all …”

Clarkson added: “Really sorry about this but on the upside, the beer is fine and still delicious. As is the cider, in bottles that are unaffected. Which is almost all of them.”
