It's Morbin' time
Jared Leto has shared a hilarious reaction to the internet's collective fascination with his recent superhero movie
Morbius and the meme culture that has sprung up in its wake.
Following its release back in April, reviews for
Morbius weren't great. At the time of writing, the film - in which Leto stars as Spider-Man villain and scientist-turned-living vampire Dr Michael Morbius - has just a 17 per cent critics' review rating on
Rotten Tomatoes, with many online adopting the movie and its characters as a brand new meme.
One Twitch channel was ultimately banned after it
attempted to stream the entire movie 24/7 and ended up going viral after managing to stay live for 12 hours.
Any user of TikTok will have no doubt stumbled across a
Morbius meme or two, each highlighting the ridiculousness of the character and film itself. In fact, the meme-ification of the movie has proven so popular,
the film actually returned to US cinemas after initially underperforming after its first release.
Rather unsurprisingly, it didn't do too well this time around either.
Now the whole thing has come full circle as the film's star took to Twitter to show audiences that he too is in on the joke when it comes to all this Morbin' around.

In the short clip, we see Leto seemingly reading what looks like a movie script.
When an off-camera voice asks what he's reading, the
Fight Club star suddenly gets cagey and attempts to hide the title of the screenplay from the person asking the questions.
However when the title page of the script is finally glimpsed, it reveals the title: "Morbius 2: It's Morbin Time" alongside a fictional credit by someone named Bartholomew Cubbins.
The video concludes with the theme song to Larry David's hit show
Curb Your Enthusiasm.
Meanwhile, the film's unusual cult status continued in the comments section under the clip.

Does this mean the
Morbius meme train has finally jumped the shark? Only time will tell.
