Jackie Chan has confirmed that he’s in talks for Rush Hour 4.

During an appearance at the Red Sea International Film Festival, the martial arts star confirmed that Rush Hour 4 is underway, Variety reported.

“We’re talking about Rush Hour 4 right now,” the 68-year-old said of the movie where Chan and Chris Tucker first appeared as detectives Carter and Lee in 1998.

The Rush Hour sequel has reportedly been in the works for a while with Tucker revealing in 2018 that a fourth instalment was on the cards, saying “it’s happening”.

“This is gonna be the rush of all rushes. Jackie is ready and we want to do this so that people don’t ever forget it,” Tucker said.

Around the same time, director Brett Ratner reportedly claimed he would be making the film, despite producers stating otherwise.

Shortly beforehand, Ratner was kicked off the Wonder Woman franchise over sexual misconduct allegations.

Rush Hour producer Arthur Sarkissian confirmed that Ratner was “not attached”, adding: “All I’m interested in is to make the best movie possible,” IGN reported.

Who will make Rush Hour 4 is not yet known.

But speaking about the franchise at the film festival, Chan shared some fond memories.

“I got a phone call. Brett Ratner and Chris Tucker call me from New York,” he said.

“They’re crazy. We were $70 million in the first weekend. For me, I don’t know how to count.”

Rush Hour made a total of $244 million at the box office and saw both Chan and Tucker return for two sequels, Rush Hour 2 and Rush Hour 3.

Chan said “there are so many good action stars” but he is better “than some” because he writes his own script, “suitable for myself”.

“I can use the camera angle to make my action better. At night, I go home and edit myself and use those kinds of things to make my action better.”

Chan also promised to make more romance movies and fewer action movies.
