If you’re still playing Pokémon Go, you’ll be rewarded with new Pokémon

It's a major update.

The Pokémon Go craze might have died down after its initial peak, but creators Niantic are still looking for ways to make the game more entertaining for those who have stuck with it.

In its initial iteration, the augmented reality mobile game allowed players to ‘catch’ only the original generation of monsters – but that will soon change.

According to an Instagram post, new Pokémon are being added to the game, including Pichu and Togepi.

The new additions are currently only accessible by hatching eggs which you pick up from Pokéstops, meaning you’ll need to do a bit more walking to benefit fully from the update.

Still, it is arguably the most significant Pokémon Go update in a very long time, and people are impressed, even if the update has left them with some catching up to do.

And, according to an official release, more new Pokémon will be rolled out on the mobile game in the coming months, if you really want to go all in on your Pokémon nostalgia.

We don’t have the full details just yet, but it looks like the upcoming editions are all familiar faces from the Pokémon Gold and Pokémon Silver games.
