Could a spin-off series be on the way?
Idris Elba has hinted that he’s got a “really big thing cooking” with DC comics leading many fans to think he’s finally getting a standalone spin-off series.
Fans of DC entertainment will know Elba, 49, plays Bloodsport, a character that was originally hired to assassinate Superman in the comics. However while talking to entertainment reporter Erik Davis, Elba hinted at Bloodsport’s future opportunities in the DC movie universe.
NEW: I just spoke with Idris Elba about his new film #Beast. I asked what we’ll see him in next – a Marvel project or DC, and he said DC. He said he’s got a really big thing cooking for DC right now. 👀 Full interviews for BEAST will drop soon & my reaction drops tonight pic.twitter.com/Fmabs6jTnC

“Deadshot v. Bloodsport,” one fan suggested, seemingly looking to include Will Smith’s Deadshot from the original Suicide Squad movie.
“Remember when James Gunn said he will give another member of the Suicide Squad movie his own TV show after PeaceMaker one,” another said. “Well i guess it’s Idris Elba’s Bloodsport.”

The Luther actor could, of course, be playing an undisclosed character, with many online calling for him to play John Stewart, a Green Lantern first introduced in 1979.
Regardless, Bloodsport does seem to be both the most popular choice and the most realistic.
DC’s first show, Peacemaker, starring none other than John Cena, did exceptionally well with critics and the general audience and currently has a Rotten Tomatoes score of 94 per cent. On Instagram, director Jame Gunn revealed that Peacemaker season 2 would start filming “after I’m done with post on [Guardians] Vol. 3.”
