With even more films from this shared universe being made, the latest news about The Nun and The Crooked Man will definitely please horror fans.
Speaking about the supernatural shared universe that exists in these films, James Wan, director of both the Conjuring and its sequel, has said that the new spin-offs will maintain the old-fashioned and creepy visual style that he used to perfection.
"That is the aesthetic that I feel like I've set up...and I really want to keep that classical sort of old-school storytelling going on with all these films. Those are the kind of horror movies that I really love, and so I want to make sure that all these films within the Conjuring world feel like they came from the same place. I don't want them feeling too disjointed from a visual standpoint," says Wan.
In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Wan outlined his vision for the next films in the Conjuring shared universe.
He described The Nun as “The Name of the Rose crossed with The Conjuring" while teasing ideas about a sequel for the demonic spirit that manifested itself and terrorised Lorraine Warren (Vera Farmiga)
"I do know where potentially, if The Nun works out, where The Nun 2 could lead to and how that ties back to Lorraine's story that we've set up with the first two Conjurings and make it all come all full circle," he says.
Given the insatiable demand for these films - The Conjuring 3 is also going to be made - we're confident in saying that audiences will continue to be terrified.
Long may it continue.
