Horror fans will be happy because a Jigsaw film is the next gruesome chapter for Saw

Paul Moore

Let’s play a game.

Despite endless amounts of gratuitous gore, mutilations and deaths, there’s no denying that the first two Saw films are really good movies that still stand the test of time.

In fact, the original has one of the best twists in ‘relatively’ recent film history. It’s just a shame that the sequels felt like they were churned out and more focused on the excessive gore and death sequences than plot and character.

This being said, the franchise is one of the most formidable and enduring sagas in horror history – so far, they’ve earned $415,914,068 at the box-office –  so we’re not exactly surprised to see that Lionsgate have a few more horrific traps up their sleeve.

We already knew that there would be an eighth Saw film, but the studio have just announced its title, Jigsaw.

Jigsaw, of course, is Tobin Bell’s character from Saw who, after learning of an inoperable tumor , creates horrific traps in order to help unfortunate individuals find their passion for life.

They usually don’t survive.

We’ve even been given a brief synopsis about what to expect.

“Bodies are turning up around the city, each having met a uniquely gruesome demise. As the investigation proceeds, evidence points to one man: John Kramer. But how can this be? The man known as Jigsaw has been dead for over a decade. Or has an apprentice picked up the mantle of Jigsaw, perhaps even someone inside the investigation?”, it says.

As for the original Jigsaw himself, Tobin Bell will be back in some capacity.

Can you stomach another Saw film? Well, you’ll find out when Jigsaw is unleashed in cinemas this Halloween.
