Hollyoaks star sacked after refusing to quit OnlyFans
'It's about taking back control, about empowerment and confidence and having full power over my choices'
One of the biggest stars of daytime soap Hollyoaks has been sacked from the show after refusing to stop posting sexual photos of herself onto OnlyFans.
Sarah Jayne Dunn, 40, has been appearing on the soap on and off since 1996 as mother Mandy Richardson but bosses revealed they have asked her to leave the show after she began posting adult content online a few weeks ago.
According to The Sun, the show's producers were unable to "reach a resolution", with Dunn saying: "I'm simply moving my sexier, racier images to another platform.
“This is a decision I’ve thought long and hard about, not one I’ve taken lightly or on a whim, it’s about taking back control, about empowerment and confidence and having full power over my choices.
"I love doing photo shoots, always have always will, it’s how I got into the acting industry, at the tender age of 12 I decided I wanted to be a model and enrolled on a modelling course, joined an agency and had my first professional shoot and I was hooked. I got my first TV audition and the rest is history.
"I’ve been lucky enough to travel to some pretty amazing places for photoshoots since being 17, that being said I’ve never felt in control, of the content or of the finances.”
Posting on Instagram stories following the firing, Dunn wrote: "thank you for your support."
The actress's OnlyFans page charges £11 per month for access to sexy photos. Her latest post, only available to paying subscribers, is captioned "who's feeling a bit cheeky?" with a peach emoji and a smiley face.
In a recent post on Instagram, Dunn, who used to pose for lads' mags in the 2000s, said: "YOU CAN BE BOTH A MOTHER AND A SEXY BADASS WOMAN!"
She added: "we are still fiercely powerful sexual women, even more so if anything because becoming a mother gives you a power and self worth like no other, when you realise just how incredible your body is!
"STOP body shaming, mother shaming, woman shaming and let others live and do what THEY choose to do with their OWN bodies. It’s time to change the script."
A Hollyoaks spokesperson commented: “Hollyoaks is a youth-facing drama with many young viewers, who follow our cast very closely, both in the soap and outside of it.
“We take our responsibility to our young audience very seriously and therefore the show does not allow any Hollyoaks cast members to be active on certain 18+ websites.
“We had hoped we could reach a resolution with Sarah that would allow her to remain in her role as Mandy, but we respect her choice to continue to produce content on OnlyFans."
Earlier this year, OnlyFans announced they were to ban adult content from the platform but backtracked shortly afterwards.
