Good news because ‘there will be two other’ Mad Max films

Paul Moore

Oh, what a day… what a lovely day!

Look at the majority of last year’s summer blockbusters, they just weren’t fun.

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, Suicide Squad, Warcraft, X-Men: Apocalypse and countless other films just didn’t deliver on their promise – we’ll make an exception for Star Trek: Beyond and Captain America: Civil War – but compared to George Miller’s superb reinvention of Mad Max, the vast majority of 2016’s summer releases weren’t even good enough to have the V8 Interceptor blow sand in their faces.

Simply put, Mad Max: Fury Road had more ideas, creativity and adrenaline-pumping moments than any other blockbuster in recent memory.

It also had Tom Hardy. He’s class in pretty much everything.

Not only was Fury Road beloved by audiences, it was also a critical darling as seen by the fact that it received 10 Oscar nominations – it won six of those.

Well, if you’re hankering for more post-apocalyptic adventures featuring Max Rockatansky, we have some good news for you.

Not only is the black and white version of Mad Max: Fury Road being released in cinemas, but George Miller has also promised two more films.

Speaking with The Independent, he said : “We dug down deep into the subtext, the backstory of all the characters, and indeed the world…and without really thinking about it, we wrote two other screenplays just as part of the bible of the stories. Somewhere, if the planets align, there will be two other films.”

It’s also reported that Tom Hardy has committed to the new films and that the first sequel is currently titled Mad Max: The Wasteland.

Oh, what a day… what a lovely day!
