Good news because a new season of The Night Manager is in the works

Paul Moore

The producers are in “the early stages” of a new season.

At the present moment, Tom Hiddleston is currently leading a massive military operation to slaughter an 100-feet tall gorilla. Representatives for the World Wildlife Fund are probably going ape with this news, but we’re obliged to tell them that it’s all in the name of entertainment… and utterly bonkers action.

Kong: Skull Island is now in your local cinema and film fans will be able to see Hiddleston in action as he burns up the big screen, however, it’s very likely that the majority of viewers will recognise him from his brilliant work on the smaller screen in The Night Manager.

If you haven’t seen the BBC’s adaptation of John le Carré’s novel then you’re in for a treat.

In the show, Hiddleston plays the night manager of a Cairo hotel, who is recruited to infiltrate the inner circle of an arms dealer, played by Hugh Laurie.

There’s twists, espionage and sex. Lots and lots of sex. Seriously, how much sex did his character have during those few episodes?

Anyways, fans of the show will be pleased to know that a second season is currently in the works. Variety have reported that while new episodes are yet to be officially approved, a second season is looking incredibly likely.

In a joint statement, The Night Manager’s three production companies (BBC, AMC and The Ink Factory) said: “The Ink Factory, AMC and the BBC are in the early stages of developing a potential second [season] of ‘The Night Manager,’ but nothing is definite yet and we have nothing to announce.”

This exciting news is also supported by a recent interview that the show’s director, Susanne Bier, gave to Broadcast magazine.

During the interview, she said that a script is “slowly being developed” and that “we all very much want to do a season two but the thing we absolutely do not want is to do something that does not live up to the level of season one. That would be a really bad idea.”
