The cast have been filming their final scenes in an iconic location
Gavin and Stacey fans have been left wondering where a key character is after seeing some behind the scenes footage from filming for the final ever episode.
Back in May, in was announced that series creators and stars Ruth Jones and James Corden had written the last ever episode of the much-loved sitcom.
This will air on Christmas Day this year on BBC One, five years after the last episode, which ended on quite the cliffhanger.
Production is now well under way on the eagerly anticipated special, and the cast have already filmed their final scenes in on iconic location from the sitcom.
Behind the scenes footage shared on TikTok and Instagram showed Jones speaking to fans after the cast had filmed their final scenes on Trinity Street in Barry.
She told them: “We hope you won’t be disappointed on Christmas Day when all will be revealed.”
As the fans applauded, Jones added: “This is our farewell now to Barry and to Trinity Street so you won’t be seeing us here anymore, but we’ve had a wonderful 17 years.”
Jones was addressing fans alongside Corden, Joanna Page, and Melanie Walters.
But this prompted some worried fans to ask one question: where’s Mathew Horne a.k.a. Gavin?
One person commented: “Where’s Gav?!”
Another said: “Where’s Gavla?”
And a third echoed this, asking: “Umm…. Where’s Gavin?”
On TikTok, the person who filmed the footage gave some insight on Horne’s whereabouts. Responding to one concerned fan, they said: “He wasn’t there today that I saw, but was filming in trinity street two weeks ago.”
Meanwhile other fans asked where Pam and Mick were, whether we’ll ever find out what happened on THAT fishing trip, and were trying to see if they could spot a wedding ring on Ness’ finger…
Anticipation is huge for the final ever Gavin & Stacey episode, and fans are desperate to know what’s going to happen.
Back in June, Jones joked with Brydon that she was “leaking spoilers” to fans asking about what will happen.
Gavin & Stacey ran for three series from 2007 to 2010, during which time it became one of the most of the BBC’s most popular shows.
Having initially been broadcast on BBC Three, the show was shifted to BBC One as its popularity soared, and it aired its first Christmas special in 2009.
Created and written by Corden and Jones, the pair starred in the series alongside Mathew Horne and Joanna Page as the titular characters. The ensemble cast also included Alison Steadman, Larry Lamb and Julia Davis.
The Christmas special is scheduled to air on BBC One on December 25. It will also be available to watch on iPlayer.
